Windows Mediaplayer 11

Robbie Williams - Rudebox While I was trying to burn a backup of Robbie Williams’ Rudebox, I encountered a problem in MediaPlayer. Since I was at my girlfriends’ place ( I don’t like the CD anyway), I had to use the Windows Machine. Actually, this is the first Windows-based-post here ;)

Anyway, I encounterd a problem while trying to burn the CD. Mediaplayer gave some icons, which I clicked. It appeared to be error C00D10DA :

You’ve encountered error message C00D10DA while using Windows Media Player. Additional information is not currently available for this error.

RegServ32Again, Google was my friend: TabletQuestions.com answered my question. Unfortunateley, the suggested solution did not work out for me. So, I decided to reinstall Mediaplayer.

Now, I get issues about not enough desikspace available. It needs about 50 Megs to un-install, apparently, I only have 15. Oops… I forgot I told the machine to quit bitchin’ about not enough diskspace. That is the result of a couple off partial re-installs on a too-small-partitioned-harddisk, in combination with a born lazyness and refusing to solidly reinstall the damn machine. Let’s try a reboot first…

Well, the reboot is done. I still only have 15 megs left. Looking at my boot partition, I find 3 different JRE’s: quiet a lot. Also, my try to create an ISO of the cd and burn that, has resulted in an extra copy of the songs, taking up another 120 megs. Finally, cleaning up the disk using the built-in tool, the result is an extra 850 megs of free space. Uninstalling Mediaplayer is still not working: it says those folders have been removed! Dammit!

Using the Windows Update site, I get more and more angry: while I’m trying to write this message in Firefox, IE keeps on getting the focus(). After that, Windows Mediaplayer keeps on getting the focus as well! But, there I am, Mediaplayer has finished installing and is preparing my songs without problems. It only took me an hour and a half…
