Please note: this is not a sponsored message, although I welcome all gifts ofcourse.
This weekend, I’ve bought myself a new gift: a Logitech Harmony 555. Where as I’ve used universal remotes before, this is one of a different kind: it’s not only capable of controlling several different devices, it can do so at the same time. Where other remotes are about controlling a device, the 555 is about controlling activities. Read more…

Yesterday, Adobe announced Flash Player 10 for Linux 64 bit systems.
Be advised that this is pre-release quality. We hope to receive useful feedback about what areas need to be improved. You can help. You can report bugs at the Flash Player bug tracker.
I already had the Beta running on my mediacenter, but here’s how I installed the plugin on my mediacenter, running Ubuntu 8.

Just after removing my FontCache, the Safari update of today required a restart. Guess what:
The font “Verdana” is corrupt and should be removed
I went back to MacinTouch.com where CS Lipp wrote about FontFinagler. I downloaded the program and installed it, hoping for a miracle. I removed the cache, but Excel kept whining about corrupt fonts. Eventually, I cleared my cache and finally removed the FontCacheTool again. Bummer.

preview of the functioning service
Can I use a mobile phone to send a text-message (also known as SMS) to my weblog / website ? Yes, you can. Fairly easy as well. I’m using:
- An old Nokia 6310i
- Gnokii
- My Mediacenter
- A common BlueTooth stick I had laying around
Ofcourse, to receive the messages on the phone, it should be fit with a SIM card, preferably a dedicated one to the service.

Opening an Excel file on my Mac, I just got the following error:
The font “Verdana” is corrupt and should be removed
I don’t want to remove fonts! Besides, I don’t believe this is true, because nothing was changed. Solution was given by Art Busbey III at MacinTouch.com:
I have also had this interminable problem with Office and ‘font corruption’ and have tried all kinds of solutions. The only one that really seems to work is to remove the Office application that ‘detects’ all the corrupt fonts. Look for the application called FontCacheTool (it is somewhere in the MS Office folder – just do a find) and pull it out (delete or move to desktop or whatever). The corrupt font problem goes away and, knock on wood, I have yet to find a real corrupt font on the 15 machines I have so modified.
Happy to report this solution works for me. The FontCacheTool was at
